Teacher for Group de Mamas Latinas

Position title: Teacher
Position type: Volunteer (1.5 hours every other week with additional time to prepare materials between sessions)
Department: Educational Services
Reports to: Educational Services Manager
Basic Function of position: The leader(s) for the support group builds relationships with Spanish-speaking clients and builds community among members of the group. In conjunction with the Educational Services Manager, the leader chooses curriculum materials based on clients’ current circumstances and needs. Curriculum topics may include parenting, self-care, relationships, life skills or spiritual matters.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Relational
- Build relationships with clients by offering encouragement and support
- Foster a sense of community in the group
- In conjunction with the Educational Services Manager, discern and address clients’ needs
- Contact clients between class via phone or text to develop relationships
- Facilitate and lead discussion during class time
Logistical/Administrative
- Sign in and out in the Volunteer Hours binder
- Assist in recording class attendance
- Work with the Educational Services manager to select curriculum materials
- Shop with clients in the AGR store once a month using the Alpha Bucks they earned through participation
Available Serving Hours:
- Tuesdays, 9:45 – 11:15 (Group runs from 10:00 – 11:00)
Qualifications
- Highly advanced or fluent in Spanish and English
- Ability to build relationships and communicate with a diverse group of clients
- Organizational and administrative skills
- Comfortable leading, praying, and sharing the gospel
